SPT: Twilight

Are you kidding me? I could scarcely stay up late enough last night for twilight's last gleaming! We are coming up on the longest day of the year, after all. I snapped this picture at 10:20 pm and look at that sky, still blue. Actually bluer than the sky has been most days for the last month.
I have to admit that the first thing I thought of when I considered today's SPT Challenge was this. Probably because the weather we've been having makes me feel like I'm living in Forks.

'
Which brings me to my 52 Blessings-blessing for this week: It is a blessing that my children are still in school and not going stir crazy indoors at home during this rainy May and June. [Last day of school is June 26th.]

What the heck? Living at the top of the world really does have some disadvantages! I think it is hard putting my kids to bed at 8 with the sun still up...but at least close to setting! I can't imagine myself trying to go to bed with it still daylight! Hang in there with the sunlight and the rainy days :)

And...truly enjoyed the series!

great silo self-portrait. i love when it stay light longer in the evening but 10:20pm is a little much even for me. I'll add that to my knowledge of canada.

you cracked me up with the "Forks" reference. Have you read her new one?

I love your Canadian theme posts. It's great to learn more about our neighbor up north!

My first thought was the Twilight books also. I had no idea it stayed light so long in Canada.

Oh my! I can't imagine it still being light. Guess it'd be pretty haed to tell the kids to be home by dark.. And to say look how dark it is outside of course it's your bedtime!
I learn something new about Canada everytime I read your blog.

That is a late twilight! I like it though.

The advantage is that in the winter, we can tell our kids to go to bed at 5pm because its dark out, so it must be bedtime. And it makes for fun summer nights and bbq's

now that is some serious long days...10:20? really? I love that is stays light later here 8:30ish, I think 10:30ish would be too much. I already want to go to bed before my child wants to go.

loved Twighlight, Eclipse is on my bedside table now and I am already ready for the new one!

Wow - 10:20p and still light out. That is crazy.

Laughed at your reference to the Twilight series :) (I'm impatiently waiting for the next one...).

I'm so glad Arizona doesn't have daylight savings time....it's 8:00 and it is almost 100% dark. 10:20 would take some getting used to for me!

Great sp...

I loved your reference to the Twilight series. I wondered if anyone would.

That is some serious light late into the night! I have a hard enough time getting my kids to bed now.

My early bedtime routine wouldn't go over so well there.

Love your informative blogs about Canada! I can't believe it is so light for so long. The northern most I have been is London.
Havne't read the Twilight series. Do you recommend it?

I didn't take note to see how light it was here in MOntreal! June 26th! We are six days behind you, I keep seeing all the great and fun summer posts, and I keep thinking, we're almost their! I keep meaning to ask you when you will be in town? You must save a lunch or a few minutes so we can meet! Take care!

I don't like to be reminded that the days are only going to get shorter! The thought of winter makes me want to cry!

My thought: What in the world is Forks?

But, through the comments I figured out it was a Twilight book thing. I'm still resisting those.

I remember the summer we lived up there, I was so amazed by the light at night. I think it's great, but probably not so good for kids and bedtimes.

You really do the best SPTs barb. I love that it is so light at 10:20 pm. That makes me pine for the north. Nowhere does summer better.

It amazes me to see the seriously huge swings in the amount of light you get from winter to summer...living on the top of the world is not a subtle experience.

Amanda said...

Wow. I thought it stayed light late here...that is such a great sp.

I love April's comment. I guess it is not a subtle experience! I'm not sure what time it gets dark here, probably around 9:30 right now. Your kids are in school late! They must start late as well, and we will all be envious here when we have to go back so early.
