Jaclyn wrote an arrangement of Nearer, Dear Savior, to Thee (Hymn #99) and played it in Sacrament meeting today.
Nearer, Dear Savior, to Thee
1. Nearer, dear Savior, to thee,
Nearer, nearer to thee—
Ever I’m striving to be
Nearer, yet nearer to thee!
Trusting, in thee I confide;
Hoping, in thee I abide.
Nearer, nearer to thee—
Ever I’m striving to be
Nearer, yet nearer to thee!
Trusting, in thee I confide;
Hoping, in thee I abide.
[Chorus]
Take, oh, take, and cherish me,
Nearer, dear Savior, to thee.
Take, oh, take, and cherish me,
Nearer, dear Savior, to thee.
2. Nearer, dear Savior, to thee,
Nearer, nearer to thee—
Proved by my trials, I’ll be
Nearer, yet nearer to thee!
Humbly I come to thee now;
Earnest, I prayerfully bow.
Nearer, nearer to thee—
Proved by my trials, I’ll be
Nearer, yet nearer to thee!
Humbly I come to thee now;
Earnest, I prayerfully bow.
3. Nearer, dear Savior, to thee,
Nearer, nearer to thee—
Ever my anthem will be
Nearer, yet nearer to thee!
Loving thee, ever I pray,
Aid me thy will to obey.
Nearer, nearer to thee—
Ever my anthem will be
Nearer, yet nearer to thee!
Loving thee, ever I pray,
Aid me thy will to obey.
4. Nearer, dear Savior, to thee,
Nearer, nearer to thee—
Let me by holiness be
Nearer, yet nearer to thee!
When all my trials are done,
When my reward I have won,
Nearer, nearer to thee—
Let me by holiness be
Nearer, yet nearer to thee!
When all my trials are done,
When my reward I have won,
Text: Joseph L. Townsend, 1849–1942
Music: William Clayson, 1840–1887

Oh, I am so glad that I get to be the first one to tell Jaclyn how amazing that was! Jaclyn, you are so gifted. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us all and for creating such a moving way to share your testimony. I am so proud of you, you beautiful girl. Bravo, again and again.
Wow, what a talented girl! That was beautiful!
That was truly beautiful! Does she want a "gig" at our Sacrament Meeting. ;)
My daughter just started piano lessons so this was very inspiring to us both. (Amazing how many songs in beginner books can use just two repetitive notes....ack!)
Of course she did. Brilliant girl.
What a wonderful job Jacly did on arranging this hymn! Right up their with Goldstein! I loved the rolling left hand and the beautiful dynamics. Tell her I loved it!
don't know how i missed this post earlier, but, it looks like Jaclyn's putting that grand to good use - very nice.
Well done!
What a wonderful gift and talent!
She did such a good job...I didn't know that she had written that arrangement!
