Thanks, Martha

,
We had a good time making your bat silhouettes.
,
Now: Any suggestions for decorating outside?
(Some people fear that our house looks like we don't even celebrate Halloween.)
(We're so concerned about what the neighbours think.)

Ooh, ooh! I just watched a Martha "bad things, good things" show...or part of one. She made a snake out of carved pumpkins on her lawn! She used probably at least 20 pumpkins, starting with very small (the tip of the tail), lining them up from small to big in a slithery snake-body pattern, and ending with a large pumpkin (the head). All the "body" pumpkins had spots carved in them, some holes carved all the way through, and some just shaved away so the light was dimmer. Then the head had snake fangs, eyes, and also some spots. Very cool. I believe she made holes at the top and bottom of each and ran Christmas lights through the entire length of the body instead of candle light. I was very excited about it!

Cute bats!

Sorry, I'm not the one to ask about outside decorations...or even much of *inside* ones! It looks like you have a good start.

How much would a pumpkin snake cost to make? And how long would it take to make one? It would be amazing to actually see one, though!

My kids like the house with white ghosts hanging from the trees.

i just did my bats this morning! great minds (you, me and martha!!)

we used to have really great tombstones outside, but they got pretty warped over the years and i have zero desire to replace them. my outdoor decorations are much more "autumn" - with a generous sprinkling of authentic cobwebs strewn about ;)

Those are perfect with your orange lamp shade. Where di dyour get that crow candle stick. It is creepy indeed.

Outside? We have some silhouettes on our windows of cats and skeletons. And, shocker, they are from Martha. That woman knows halloween.

No bat silhouettes, at least yet at our house, but we are definately using our shreaking halloween noise maker machine, carved and lighted pumpkins, and a brand new fog machine! Tacky - but fun!

That pumpkin snake sounds amazing. I put up an orange berry wreath on the door...spooky, I know.

I came here to wish you Happy Birthday Barb and then realized I hadn't commented on this post. I THOUGHT I did. I remember thinking, "These remind me of the paper bunnies she does at Easter. Barb is a whiz with paper."

Happy Birthday to Barb the Paper Whiz.
