52 Blessings

. .
This week I feel especially blessed to have a public library. I've read 3 books this month! Perhaps I need to take a small break from reading and maybe fold some laundry or something.
.
.
I've read more in the past year than in the previous 5 years, and I'm grateful that I can borrow books rather than buy them. It's a big money saver.

Recently Ken and I were talking about how much of our money and time our children's hobbies and interests consume, and Ken said, "Wouldn't it be great if they just liked to sit on the couch reading library books?"
.
(Is couch more of a Canadian word? Do you sit on a sofa?)

Brynlee would be perfectly content sitting on the couch (no not a Canadian word) reading library books. We need to use the library more. It might be frightening to add up what we spend at the book store in a year.

And about the couch/sofa thing ... my dad (proper interior designer) only ever says "sofa". But we mock him for it. :)

We sit on couches in Washington. I, too, love a good library. It is definitely a blessing. Definitely.

I say couch. I'm always kind of bugged when I watch design shows because they always say sofa.

I always get a little giddy at the library and tend to check out way more than I can actually read at one time. Plus I have so many books at home, it's silly that I even want to check more out.

I need to use the library more often. But ours is attached to a community college and the parking is horrible and the walk from the parking lot long and there are always hoards of grimey little children making a lot of noise. The bookstore is much more soothing and quiet. Although, I have just caught on to how to request online then you just pick your books up at the front desk!

We sit on a couch because it is leather and casual but if I had a formal living room with something grand I'd be sitting on a sofa.

We have a couch. In my mind, a sofa would be too fancy to put in our home...I know there's really no difference. We used to go to the library in Great Falls all the time with Mike's boys. I've only been to the one in Billings once...on a disturbance call for work. Hmm.

The previous posts were funny. A whoopee cushion? Nice. Good luck with your snowboarding lessons. And your card wreath is great.

Oh, I love the library too, but it rarely saves me any money. If I read a really good book I have to run out and buy it and mark all the really good lines. Sometimes this is how my sister and I rank books...I ask, "Is it a library book or should I go buy it?" This tells you a lot about a book!

We say couch down here...

P.S. I love you pictures, and I'm not sure why. Libraries have always been favorite places for me.

We sit on couches here. And I truly need to develop a relationship with the library. It's not that I'm against libraries..but I'm partial to book ownership and very poor at remembering due dates. Financially, it would be a good move though, I'm sure. I can't imagine what I spend on books in a year.

On the Good Mail front, thanks so much for what you sent my way. I loved it!

I love libraries! They truly are a blessing. And I know how you feel about taking a break. Every once in a while, I'll think about all I could get done in the hours that I read. But, when it comes down to it, I'll make that sacrifice every time for the love of a good book.

I want to say "sofa" as it sound much more proper than "couch", but my vocabulary is more apt to say "couch". Good on you to read so many books this month and all free!

So if I want to sound pretentious I need to start saying sofa? And handbag? I was thinking today I like the word trainers so much better than tennis shoes. I think I may pick that British-ism up.
Oh the library my great love. I actually took a picture of Brett's library card the other day for a gratitude post because I lost mine! In my hyperventilating state, I asked the librarian how much a new card would cost. $3, but I could check out 2 books with my ID at a time. Only 2 books! I wasn't intending on checking anything out but I ran and grabbed 2 picks because I could only get 2.

Definitely couch. Reading books was my only hobby growing up as well as most of my siblings. My parents got lucky. Or maybe they facilitated that.

Sofa sounds much too proper to me or something that sits in your "living room" We are "couch" pronouncer's around here. Holy cow 3 books, it's not even the 31st yet. That is awesome!!

I'm a couch gal too, but I grew up in Idaho, so maybe the shared border allowed your Canadian speech to seep down and corrupt my pure American vocabulary? Hee! Because we would never *dream* of borrowing a word from another country...

I am a complete and utter fan of libraries. All those books, shelf after shelf, calling to me, and when I pick them up, I get to take them home. For free. It's a beautiful thing.

When I die I am going to leave all my money to public libraries. It was the Calgary Public Library that provided me with updated books for papers that I wrote in University. Since then, Libraries have had a special place in my heart:-)

Ken's comment cracked me up. I say couch, but my mom the interior designer says sofa. I never thought about that before.

Our library here is okay, but I really had a love affair with the one in Seattle because you could order a book from any of the branches and it would come to yours. I never had a book I couldn't get. Here it's just the one branch.

Congrats on reading 3 books already! Pretty impressive.

We call 'em couches too.
My daughter - 6 - could live in the public library. She read 180 books last summer alone.
Congrats on 3 books already. Sadly, none for me so far this year!
