Next week I'm going away on a corporate retreat with my husband. I have to go. Don't get me wrong, I think I'm going to have fun, but not going wasn't an option. I'm going to go play the corporate wife for a few days. Ken's in a new job, so I haven't really met the other executives' wives - but I keep picturing something like this:
So this week, if I had an extra $100, I'd probably spend it on something for the corporate retreat. Golf clothes? Oh, dear, you don't know me well enough, so I have to be clear: I am totally joking about these particular clothes. Look at that cap! Look at the golf cart on the sweater!
Maybe I'd take my hundred buckaroos and mosey on down to the nearest western store.
Buy me a cowboy hat for the western-themed evening on the retreat.
Or, plan 'C', I could blow the $100 at a thrift store to outfit myself for the 70's-themed evening. Well, maybe that wouldn't take the full $100.
I do seriously need to do some shopping before I go away next week. Which event do you think I should shop for?

I love checking your blog before I go to bed to get a early spt. All your pictures are so cute. My husband is an attorney at a big law firm downtown. I don't enjoy having to figure out what to wear to the Christmas Party. A whole retreat oh my. I say go all out for the 70's theme.
I always hate those types of events - a kind of forced fun? I must say, however, I am fortunate, my husband's company shy's away from themed events! Loved all the photos!
i vote for 70s theme, because you can probably have the most fun with it, without offending (?) anyone...

Cute SPT. The golf hat kills me. I'd wear the golf shirt before I'd wear the hat.
As far as which theme, the 70's would definitely be the most fun.
Fun camera work Barb. You are cracking me up with the Stepford Wives. Good luck with the trip. I probably would be stressing what to wear, how to act, etc. Look forward to see what you end up with!
Fun pictures. I hope your trip turns out fun. I stress when I have to go to things with people my husband works with. I always feel like I come across as a dumb blonde neve knowing the right things to say or the way to act.
I vote 70's, too, even though the country/western would be easiest for me.

Great photos -- you were busy! I would croak if Keith made me go on a retreat like that (not that Ken is *making* you), but ugh! Not my idea of fun. And theme nights on top of it?? Do you get to go somewhere fun, at least? Red Deer? But, you in that golf hat and shirt is cracking me up to no end. It's so *not* you, that it's hilarious.
Oh, I feel your pain. Hanging out with the other crowd can be a challenge. I would definately go for the 70's theme. You could have a lot of fun trying to get a wardrobe put together.

Actually I was laughing about the golf clothes and western attire without you explaining anything. Cool pictures with the one color. I seem to put less photo effort into these spts these days.

hmmm, mixed feelings on the corporate retreat. no matter what i feel before i leave i always manage to have fun so i guess i like them well enough but i will say we don't do themed events. thankfully. i may not enjoy them if we did!

I think you should by a new bathing suit & cute tie skirt to go over it - forget all the events and schmoozing & lay out by the pool all day! HA. That would save you a lot of $$ too! Just need to buy 1 thing!LOL
