To each his own

When my car tells me it is 18 below, nothing makes me happier than finding this:
A Full Service gas station. This one is close(ish) to Carmen and Chloe's choir and I have used it twice now on cold nights. It feels like a victory to make it to Thursday before I need to fill up because there is not a full service station conveniently located near my house.
Ken, on the other hand, walked out the door tonight with boyish excitement to go back for his truck - he left it along the way home after he drove over a set of keys on the road (strange) and punctured his tire. It must have been some sort of caveman-overcome-the-elements instinct plus the anticipation of working with tools. Maybe. Really, I have no idea of why he seemed to find adventure where I would have found aggravation.

There is one place in town here that has full service and sometimes if it's extra cold, or snowing I will splurge and go there. In our state for some reason you have to stand outside while you pump...the gas handles don't have that lever to hold it while you sit in your car.

Brutal.

Interesting about Ken. Reminds me of the scouts camping in the winter. WHY?

Okay, I just about had a heart attack when I saw your gas price, but then had to remind myself that you're in Canada.

Slowly recovering here...

(and I guess your parents are in for a treat this weekend if they're coming from that weather!)

The biological differences are vast. I don't understand so many of our differences. But they make life interesting. I feel bad for shivering so much tonight.

I probably always say the same thing to cold weather posts...I can't even imagine weather that cold. Brrr. Good for you on finding that full-service station!

Dad's always encouraged us to gas up at co-op for the money back you get (i think it's somewhere around 10cents a litre off now), but secretly i think i go there more because of the free full serve! Cold or nice out. Although i do feel bad when it's 30 below and i'm making some poor boy pump my gas while i stay toasty warm. Can't remember the last time i pumped my own gas - probably on holidays somewhere.

And where did ken have to leave the truck? I always did think he was a little looney ;)

Holy cow, 18 below, that's outrageous! We don't have any full service gas stations that I can think of.

How funny that he was exciting about that outing. I so would NOT have been.

I can't believe the yo-yo the weather is doing right now. Last week it was full on boots, toques, mits, snowpants, kind of situation just to go to kindergarten. Then yesterday we were in runners and light spring jackets, no snow in sight. Today it is snowing and oh the wind is cold, cold, cold.

I would love a full serve station. I don't remember the last time I went to full serve.

Full service seems like another era...I would happily drive out of my way in weather like that. I don't know how Ken could be excited about it...reminds me of Canadian Mounty tales. You should buy him a red coat for night like those.

18 below -- Celsius??! Holy Toledo! It reminds me of a time years ago when we were walking around in a town in Northern France with our little boys and it was 9 below. And I thought that was brutal...
