School Service Saturday

The first Saturday in December the junior high students in our school always put on a Service Saturday, led by a special teacher *Mrs. C*.
/

/
This year the Service Saturday took on more of a Christmas Fair format with all the money going to local charities.
/

/
Steven signed up to work the bake sale.
/

/
Jaclyn preferred the traditional Service Saturday activities from when she was in junior high. She likes direct service better than being entertained and having the money raised go to charity, so she helped pack up warmth and hygiene kits for the homeless.
/

/
Carmen and Chloe were happy to be entertained!
/

/
The hay ride was a big hit.
/

/
As was the cookie decorating,
/

/
And writing letters to Santa, which the junior high students respond to. Chloe should be getting a return letter in the mail this week.
/

/
The Angel Tree was up. Apparently we were very quick on the draw for the Angel Tree this year. The jr. high students also spent a lot of time wrapping coins brought in by families to donate to Change for Change.
/

/
We were done with the Christmas Fair before Steven was done with his shift working the bake sale, so we went out to the playground while we waited. It was hard to get a good photo of the playground and the mountains: the good mountain view is just to the right of this picture. It is an idyllic setting for a school.
/

/
The little girls have been wanting to share their new equipment with me for quite a while, and they were pleased to show off a little.
/

/
I can't believe the brown winter we've had so far, but I certainly appreciated it when I had to run to 5 different stores later on Saturday to buy materials for a school project for Jaclyn. I was very glad not to be bracing against the cold or driving on ice and snow.
/
.
Somehow I had a change of heart when yesterday I walked out of church to this (in strappy little shoes and bare feet). My first thought was: Finally!
.
It will be a White Christmas.

YES! I am so happy to have snow out of our windows so I can feel Christmas better. It really does make a difference.

What a great project your school puts on!

neither mom nor marie has to walk to the bus stop through the deep snow, apparently

Jaclyn's comment made me smile. The snow does look so pretty, but I wouldn't want to walk to the bus stop in it either.

That's a great project day -- looks like a lot of good happened, and a little bit of service for everyone's liking.

We haven't had much snow this year either and it is making this month feel less than Christmasy. We're supposed to get some tonight and I'm actually hoping for a lot!

Oh, how fun. Good ole Mrs.C. That playground looks awesome. How things change.
Jaclyn, I hear ya. I hear ya.

Well Jill was right we got what i call a splash of snow. As it quickly melted this morning. My children are concerned that if it does not come soon then maybe winter will last some how into the summer.

Your playground looks like so much fun.

I love the disk swing! I have never seen anything like that! HAPPY snow indeed! Your little's comment about not having to walk to the bus stop made me laugh!

Glad you were finally able to see some white. We are FINALLY getting chilly. But to you I am sure it is more like summer.
