I knew it

I never cut the grass. Never. I was taught once when I was about 13 years old, but it turns out that's what brothers are for. And husbands. And sons.

I've always suspected that boy work is more fun than girl work and today I confirmed it: sweaty and satisfying, just as I always thought.

I agree that there is something satsifying with mowing the lawn.
For me it's seeing all of the blades of grass the same length.

And it takes a whole week before it needs another cut, where a clean kitchen sink lasts about 5 minutes! Grr.

Look at you in your skirt all dressed up and mowing the lawn! It is fun, but thank heavens, Montreal city does our grass!

I have mowed 1 lawn in my life as well.

My grass would be in real trouble if it was up to me to mow it. I have mowed one lawn, and it was enough.

I am in LOVE with that picture. Seriously.

I enjoy mowing the lawn more than almost any other 'chore' there is. I am a total fan of boy work versus girl work- totally satisfying.

A push mower! My grandpa used one--we always thought it was great fun to do it when we visited.

I wouldn't say it is my favorite thing to do--but I agree it is extremely satisfying. Freshly mowed lawns are beautiful. :)

WOW! I can't believe how many people out there have only mowed the lawn once. I'd choose lawn over bathrooms and dishes any day (well, any day that's less than 25 degrees celcius).

What?!? Just proves you were the favourite daughter.

Ken uses a push mower? I'm totally surprised. Doesn't that take way longer?

and in a skirt?! You're a wonder, Barb! Love the picture.

Oh, I'll pass. That job automatically became Mike's as soon as we got a house. We have one of those man-powered mowers too, but have only ever been mocked for it. I'm excited that you have one too! (Kelly's parents gave us one of their gas-powered ones last year)

Great picture Barb! This is a funny post, I may need to mow the lawn too. I haven't done it in like 20 years!

I grew up with my older brothers making me do the lawn when my parents were gone. Then I grew to love doing it & always mowed. Now though I let my hubby do it because it's just to stinking hot.
You look too cute in your skirt..
Great SPT

Guess Steven never got around to it?

and in a really adorable skirt, too!!

we were all girls in my family growing up, and mowing the grass fell squarely on our shoulders. maybe that's why i don't love it so much now? although, given the right mood, i do find it strangely satisfying...

i'm not quite sure how i managed the texture of my spt this week. happy accident?

you are so artistic with your photos! and the colors of your lawn mower are my favorite color combination.

i grew up with all girls and never had to mow the lawn, but now that Terry's had knee surgery and our grass is a bit 'straggly' as I said..I think it's time to learn.

Hopefully I will feel the same way you do afterwards.

I love it.

Mowing the lawn (or half the lawn) once a year is satisfying enough for me. I'll leave it to the boys otherwise.

Marie, yes - favorite *daughter*. But Ken will be quick to tell you that I used to get him to clean up after the dog first, before I would mow the lawn. I guess he did it because at least i was willing to mow the lawn - something is better than nothing. And Ross would be quick to tell you that he has mowed way more than me in the last couple of years. Finally!

I love this picture - so cool.

I have never mowed the lawn I realized the other day. Sort of weird.

Mowing the lawn if fun... except when you forget to hold up the bar that makes it self-propelled. I couldn't figure out why it was so dang hard to push!

Great sweaty workout.

I agree with you about how satisfying it is to take care of the lawn.
I love that it takes a whole week before it needs my attention again.
Cute mower!

I love your push mower, but I don't think I have ever mowed a lawn in a skirt before. Cute picture.

I do love to mow the lawn, but tell me that's not really you in the skirt with the cute vintage push mower? Seriously Barb. Could you BE cuter?

that is a cute photo I agree and i love your skirt too! My little boy loved your blue land mower.....he said he wanted one, but we unfortunately live in a town house and we don't have grass for us to cut!

I've never mowed the lawn either. I knew it must be fun or my husband wouldn't be so anxious to keep it mowed right?
I've been flipping through your blog and loving all the color in your pictures. I need a new camera. Either I use the flash and get flat pictures or I don't and get blurry ones. What's a girl with a cheap point and shoot supposed to do?

That photo is AMAZING!!

I've mowed the lawn umpteen times, but never with such style, Barb.
