SPT - Ring My Bell

/
The coast is clear - no neighbors outside to observe my bizarre blogging behavior!
.
if i came to visit you next week, how would i know which doorbell to ring? do you have a formal entrance? should i come to the front door? or do you prefer your guests to come around back? (would you be surprised if i came in through the garage?!?)
.

My front door. My extra tall (9'), black front door. Our house blends well with the community, but singled out, the front door is . . . intimidating. Those poor girl scouts who have to come ring my doorbell and sell me cookies!

The dog comes in the deck door. He's left his smudges all over it, but I sit with my back to this door during presidency meetings, so I don't have to look at it. But I suppose my counsellors do.

The family comes in the garage door. The kids don't have house keys, but they know the garage keypad code. The tape marks on the door have been there forever - I can't get them off. They're a sad reminder of a failed organization system.

I hope sharing the smudges and the tape marks on our other entrances makes my big black door more approachable. I love a pop-in! So go ahead, ring my bell.
.

I'll open up, even if I'm a little tired. Right after I hide the paper towel tube Chloe's left laying in the front entrance.

I'd love to pop in your door some day Barb. You have so much to teach me.

I liked your comment about the tape marks and the smudges and glad you showed them to us.

You always do such an amazing job with SPT! (It is funny--when I've had meetings at my home I sometimes think about what people will be looking at and give myself the most unattractive view.)

How funny...we have paper towel tubes floating around our house right now. (I think my son is collecting them for cub scouts.)

I was just thinking about that presidency meeting point-of-view too. What must they think?

Love your tall door. Very stately.

I have to admit I was surprised by that big black door...but I guess it's true what my friend says...someone VERY important lives there!

I loved the line about: "They're a sad reminder of a failed organization system." I can't say how charming this is to me, and how comforting. Next time I'm in Canada I will surely "pop in."

I love to pop in on you. I am still waiting for one of my pop in visits to burst the bubble I have that you home is always clean, your hair and makeup always done, and you always have time for visitors. You aren't really like that all the time, are you? Are you? Surely sometime I will catch you.

I have a new goal!

That is a seriously tall door!
And thanks for showing us the "real" side of things with the tape on the back of the door. So very real!

that's an impressive door. but the garage one gets me, becuase that's where we go in and out. i don't have tape marks, but scratches from some extra strong magnets (yup - failed organizational system...)

It does seem like a very tall front door - are there steps up to it? We had a house in UTah that had at least 15 steps up to the front door, perhaps that's why my vistors were few! Very cute SPT portrait Barb! Dorval? That's by the airport, I think, perhaps 15 minutes without traffic to my neck of the city! I think we should plan a get together - I would so love to meet you! Keep me updated!

I like the black door. My family also comes in the garage and the garage is connected to the messiest mud room you could possibly imagine. We give new meaning to mud room!

It makes me smile to know that even you have to hide the paper towel tube before you open the door. I'll remember that next time I have to kick aside someone's shoes when I have a visitor. I love your SPTs!

Somehow I never noticed that your door was extra tall. Perhaps because the journey to your house is so long, I'm just grateful the door is open.

I think last time we popped in on you we went with you to a ward party at Calloway Park, and I tried to jump off the Viking ship. It's been too long!

Is there are story behind the extra tall door?

It's funny how everyone uses a different door. I wonder how the kids view all these doors?

Very cute post and you are sooo photogenic! I hate being in front of the camera for these SPT's!

We too use the door from the garage to enter our house (and company too sometimes). This door always seems to slam shut...it drives me crazy. I must yell at least 10 times a day..."don't slam the door!"

Funny you took the peep hole view. I actually almost did that too. So funny.

And I can totally relate to back door smudges. Our dog does that and it drives me crazy.

Another great SPT!

Love the door. And I too have a paper towel tube in my front hall as we speak. Not so bad except that my door is all glass so all can see it. ;)

I want to pop in on you! If only you didn't live so freakin' far away...

My back door looks like yours, only even smudgier, since my lab jumps all the way up. Good grief.

Please don't EVER stop doing spt!

I ♥ your check for neighbors before proceeding with odd blogging behavior. I certainly do the same!

Your door is a little intimidating, but very cool. I like your picture through the peep hole. I always wonder if people think I'm weird taking pictures in my yard, sometimes taking pictures of myself in my yard!
