Dr. Suess' Remedy for Regret

Back in July when we were in Montana we went to a live theatre production of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat at Bigfork Summer Playhouse. Well, some of us did. Moby let Kelly's family down, so they didn't arrive in Montana early enough to come with us, and then Carmen was so disappointed not to be going to the theatre with Bryn and Ave that she decided she wouldn't go at all. It was a decision she made in sort of a dramatic huff, but it was her decision.
Jaclyn and I headed off to a lovely evening of dinner and theatre with several of our other female relatives, and Carmen stayed back at the cabin with the boys, men and small children. Carmen had a fun enough evening, but once she was tucked in bed she started thinking about Jaclyn and I, who were still out at *Joseph*, and she started crying. Loudly. Ken went upstairs to find out what was wrong and Carmen sobbed, "I did something terrible" (sob, sob, sob) Ken had no idea of what Carmen was talking about and prepared himself for a confession of crimes against siblings, but finally she was able to tell him that choosing to miss going out to dinner and the theatre was the terrible thing she'd done.
Carmen has lived with the burden of regret since that day, poor girl.
Hopefully going to Seussical the Musical on Friday with Grandma and Grandpa N. and cousins and aunts has lifted that burden and Carmen can put missing *Joseph* behind her.
Carmen: so happy to be a patron of the arts.

I really thought the night would belong to Carmen, and the first act did, but at intermission Chloe won the door prize: a 50th anniversary edition of The Cat in the Hat, signed by *The Cat* himself! Chloe was so thrilled, and after the play was over she wanted to meet the actors (remember meet the band) and she got her book signed by the entire cast.

Yay! I've been awaiting a new Barb post. So funny what they fret over, and you look at it and think "what?!", but I totally remember being there. And when your little those little things are HUGE. So cute. I'm glad she had a chance at redemption!

oh, and I'm laughing at the thought of Kelly seeing Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat!

I love that she got her book signed by the whole cast. She is really very brave to go meet all those strange people with no fear.

Carter loves characters from a distance (clown at the circus, Ronald Mc Donald at the resturant, mascots in a parade, Cat in the Hat on stage) but he DOES NOT want to go talk to them or shake their hands.

Carmen's tale of regret is cute and sad. It's great she learned that lesson at such a young age and over something not life-altering eh?

It was have been so thrilling for Chloe to win the door prize and get her picture taken with the cat himself!

How are you adjusting to life at home again? Was it glorious to come home to a clean house after such a long trip?

how awesome a night! I love Dr. Suess. I use the books for my kids not only to laugh but to learn to read better. Love the Hat on the Cat!

We went to that a few months back.
Regret is a sad thing poor Carmen.

I love Joseph but have never seen Seussical. I hope Carmen is, indeed, feeling better. She sounds like my Seth. Weight of the world.

How fantabulous! You have a budding actress there. She will get the bug -- I'll betcha.

I had no idea that Carmen missed the Bigfork theater because of US, and then regretted it so! I'm glad she had a chance to redeem her theater experience.

And, of course Chloe won the book! This will fit so perfectly with your new hobby of scrapbooking inside the book.

What a sweet girl, Carmen! Girls are so dramatic, aren't they. It's so sweet that she thought about it so intently. I was excited to hear about Chloe winning the book! What a deal-and meeting the cast. Is this a musical that is only in your area - or do they tour? Sounds like a lot of fun. btw - did you ever go to the police concert - I thought I remember you saying that you were going to to?!!!

That sounds like something I would have done as a little girl. Huffed off in dramatic fashion and then remembered I really wanted to go. What a way to get over Joseph. Very cool that she got the door prize and met the actors.

WOW! What a great lesson to learn at an early age. I am pleased to hear that she had another musical to go and see and LOVED it! Fun that you guys won the door prize! That will be a treasure!
Good luck with the start of school!
