SPT: Showing the Love

Each year our school puts up an Angel Tree filled with wishes for less fortunate kids. Students can choose an angel off the tree and then buy the wish-list item for the less fortunate child in our community. My littles just figured out this year that the Angel Tree gifts go to students at their own school - they were a little surprised by this and didn't know that there are families in need so close to home.

How sweet. My kids noticed the tree at Walmart for the first time today and they asked if we could do it. How could I say no? What good memories for them.

Ah, this is definitely the best "love" I've seen all day. What a realization.

That is a LOVEly thing! That is one of my Christmas goals this year: seek out a Toys for Tots or Angel Tree of some kind.

By the way, Thank you, Thank you for the poppy and poem. I LOVE it!

That is wonderful. I enjoy angel trees, but the realization on the part of your children is the best of all.

Showing the Love is right. What a good idea to document it with an SPT and the newfound realization of the kids.

Before my husband and I had children we picked up tree angels in lieu of a christmas tree. once we had children we realized how important it really was to give to kids in need, now my kids pick a tree angle every year. glad to see your family does the same.

Love angel trees. Thought about going to the mall so we could do this. We are doing some other service though. A little closer to home.

Sharing with those that are less fortunate than you is a great example of love. Thank you for loving.

I remember the first time that I realized not every child I knew had the same happy life I did. It was shocking and disturbed me a lot. I bet the kids are glad to know they are helping someone directly.

Click! It is amazing when things click w/ our kids. I have the kids help pick out the stuff I pull off of our work tree. We do the same thing for a family at our work. It is so rewarding.

This is great! It is hard for our littles to realize this - even when they might attend the same school.
Angel Trees, The Giving Mangers, I love them all! We try to save like The Christmas Jar all year and then go around town and randomly choose someone that we see is in need. It has been a great learning/growing experience for all.
