For me Christmas & fine arts go together like hot chocolate & whipping cream. Imagine my pleasure as we drove downtown this unseasonably warm evening amid twinkling Christmas lights, beginning the month of December with Carmen and Chloe's choir singing in the Knox United Church Carol Festival.
The event was great, or as Steven would tell you: not as bad as he thought it would be. The performances were inspiring and there was sing-along time between the choirs - naturally, Steven joined in on the singing when he knew a funny version.
.
Carmen is a performance-night singer (fine arts version of a game-day player), and enjoyed herself despite the discomfort of new black pants.
.
It seems that the choir director has spoken to Chloe about not dancing while singing, which I think is a shame, but there you have it. The director must have her creative control I suppose. [Chloe found humor in the title another choir sang, Oh Tannenbaum, and desperately wants to sing Oh Tannenbum when we go delivering our chocolates and caroling as a family.]
/
Jaclyn had a friend in the audience who was there to hear his own sister sing in the LDS Institute Choir. The boy's presence was endlessly fascinating to my younger girls who seem overly interested in Jaclyn's current social stage-of-life.

I love Steven's take on it! The girls have a big Christmas concert on the 22nd, and I can't wait. How fun for C&C to be in a choir together. Avery would love that. Brynlee is a little more like Steven when it comes to things she's not personally involved with.

And, P.S., I've missed your posts. Glad to see you back.

Ditto to Kelly, I've missed your posts Barb and was so glad to see Four Little Monkeys lighted up on my google reader.

Hot chocolate/whipping cream and the Christmas season/fine-arts. What a wonderful analogy. And the picture? Perfect!

Thanks so much for the card! That was so very, very thoughtful of you and I really appreciated it. Canadian poppies are the best I've ever seen and now, thanks to you and Chloe, I know how to pin it on.

What a wonderful event--such a great way to start the month! There really is something so special about Christmas music.

It's so fun to hear about little tidbits of your children's personalities.

A performance-night singer, eh? It's really too bad that she has to curb her dancing, it would probably make the performance that much more entertaining.

I love my poppy card!!!

What a wonderful way to start the Holiday Season. I love to hear choirs sing. Look forward to my own daughters concert in 2 weeks.

Thank you for the Memorial day Card. It just came today! But I love it all the same and am enjoying it.

Love Steven's comment. Classic.

And Jaclyn's new social life...I cannot imagine how fascinating an older sister would be at that stage.

As for the poppy card...it hangs on my board and I see it every time I walk in the door...I think of you every time I see it's gorgeous red welcome and I will wear it the first 11 days of November next year. Thank you so much for sending it. It came on just the perfect day.
