No more Monday night practises

/
We are down to football only 5 days a week,

and we couldn't be happier!
.
(It's as if the coach consulted with me because Carmen rides on Mondays, and Chloe won't let FHE slide.)
.
But yes, Kelly, Steven is having fun. He's also growing at a rate I can't believe. Football has been great for him and worth all the time and dedication. Steven is tougher mentally as well as physically, he's grown in confidence (which I didn't think was possible), he's a better worker (I didn't think he was lacking here before, either). It's been so positive for him, I now feel that football is the ultimate team sport.
.
p.s. Hockey registration is this Thursday.

Down to 5 days a week? I can't imagine the commitment this has been.

That is quite the photo, too. I hope he's having fun.

Wow. I thought I was busy with two kids in soccer {which equals 3 times a week to the field}. It is great to see your kids grow from the experience of being on a team.

Football is a HUGE undertaking! So happy to hear that he has enjoyed it! Does Hockey require so much as well? I am happy to report we have no Fall sports this year! Yahoo for me! HA!

Wow, Barb. I had no idea it requires that much time. But I love hearing the byproducts for your boy. Because I'm pretty sure we'll be headed down that road soon enough.

Wow. I'm really interested in your take on this, since I've always felt like I never wanted my boys to get interested in football... good for him! (down to 5 times a week??)

That's making my head spin. Getting one of my two kids to school everyday is all I can handle! ;) You are a master coordinator, Barb! Something else you do for me to copy!!!

I think any mom who lets their boy play on a team (football or hockey or whatever else) is amazing. Bless you for blessing him.

Only 5 day's!

We are wrapping up soccer here. Start flag football next week. Basketball sigh ups are start now. I like haveing my children busy doing good things. Although there is busy....then there is buuuuusy!

The later is the one I don't like.

Yikes, that is a commitment. Especially with 2 other kids in the house. I'm so glad he likes it and it has helped him grow. With 3 boys around here, I'm sure I'll encounter this one day. Thanks for the warning!

I told Dirk that Steven was upset you didn't let him do volleyball too, and Dirk was shocked by the athletisim of our nephew.

Here. Here. I agree with your thoughts about football. I'm so glad it's been good for Steven.

Are his loyalties divided? Does he love hockey more? What's his position in football?

Barb said...

Jane: Steven is playing wide receiver in football, and yes, his loyalties are totally divided with hockey. Personally, I like the lower time commitment of hockey, but I think football with it's greater team effort and demand on each player has been greater for growth.

Hooray for anytime you can free up one more night of the week!

I am always so impressed when I drive by our school fields and see the football players practicing in the hot, hot afternoon and seemingly still giving it their all.

I like all the observations you make about Steven's growth. To me hockey seems even more brute force and grit than football, I can't wait to hear your assessment of those practices!

Wow. 5 days a week! Those extra-curricular activities sure take a bite out of your time. That's great that's it's been so positive for him.
