I got a couple of phone calls and emails from friends and family making sure that I'd heard. He was the prophet and president of my church for the past 12 years, and really is the only prophet my children have known. Chloe requested to pose for this photo when we visited temple square so that she could have a picture of herself with President Hinkley.
I am happy for him that he is now reunited with his wife and other loved ones who had already passed on. And I will miss him. I enjoyed it when he let his sense of humor show as he addressed us in general conference. I will miss the way he loved all the members of our church into trying a little harder to be a little better. He was a great leader and a great Christian.

President Hinkley sounds like he was a great man, and you can see his sense of humor in his photos. What a bitter-sweet happening.

Also, congratulations on the minivan purchase. I have never purchased a new car, but the worry in spending that much money would outweigh the excitement for me for sure. I do love heated seats, though (hooray for your word of 2008!).

Ditto, Barb. Ditto. Will we ever forget his laugh when he said something funny?

I am happy for him as well, but it's so sad for us! My children have never known another prophet, either. We all loved him and he will be so missed.

I love your last two sentences particularly. As usual, you are spot on: He was the quintessential Christian, like Him in every way.

I love that picture of Chloe, and her feelings behind it. My girls were all pretty shaken by the news. This morning Avery said, "It's just so hard to let go." So true.

He was such a quite man of love and strength. I admired how well he took on reporters and those of other religions that tried to stir him up. He never let it get to him. He was an amazing man!

The look on her face in the photo is priceless. You can definitely tell this was a picture she wanted taken! And I love how your last sentence sums it all up so perfectly.

What a precious, precious picture of your daughter. I love it. I hope she remembers the feeling she had that day all her life.

I love the picture of you Daughter. How sweet that she wanted to have her picture taken with him. I have a friend, when growing up would visit family in Salt Lake. When at temple square they would go ride the elevators at the church office building in hopes of seeing Spencer W. Kimball. Or any other memeber of the 12.

Barb, you asked what song I was teaching in primary. It is called "If The Savior Stood Beside Me" and unfortuately I was unable to attend church on Sunday. But will get to finish teaching it this Sunday. We were still all sick. I will actually have a link on my blog where you can go hear the song.

Thanks for all you wonderful comments. I really enjoy them.

Chloe is one sweet and smart girl! When we were there last I made sure to get Spencer's photo by President Kimball's display. :)

Thanks for your comment--I was coming here to mention byutv online. I see someone beat me too it! :) That is what I watch when folding laundry. I love watching it online because I can choose *when* I want to watch *what*.
