This week's theme got me thinking about how settled I am. I have made only two houses home in the past 16 years - 8 years each. And my current home is only 5 minutes away from my old house - so it was not a big move. I really enjoy the security, traditions, and stability born from staying put. I like the little things that I can count on repeating year after year.

One event I've watched for this spring is the return of the goose family along the side of the road on my drive to school.

It seems like such a perilous place for a nest, but they make this spot their home every year.
Sweet, yes?

Look at you in your short sleeves and sun glasses...dare I hope that this means the warm weather finally arrived? I am glad you love your "home sweet home" regardless of the weather.
The perilous nesting spot may have been theirs before the road was there...?
Love the picture with the geese! Looks like great weather!
That is a great picture. Love the fuzzy little goslings.
How fun that the return each year!
Where did you go to get a running activity of the blogs that you visit to see if they have updated? I would love to do that!

great great GREAT shot of the goose family!!
i am a long-term girl, too. we've been in southport for 8 years, and we're pretty dug-in.
That is what I crave also -- a place to let the roots sink in and really be home. Hopefully we're there, we just don't know it yet.
Nice photos!
Sometimes I wonder if somewhere else would be better--but then I am grateful for the stability we have. It does feel good to be home.
And Canadian Geese really live in Canada--who knew? ;-)
We have a Canada Geese family that comes back year after year a street away as well. It's so fun every spring to go buy and see the new goslings as they grow. I used to live about 5 minutes away from the house where I grew up...but we've lived on the east coast now for 3 years and feel very settled.
That is fun to see the them come back year after year! Great pictures.
After moving around a lot in my life, I really appreciate being able to put down roots. Love your geese!
oh what a fantastic picture in the car. the geese are soo cute, i used to work in a place where you could see them through the window all the time. how fun to be able to spot them and know they are constant.
