SPT: SUN-day

Chloe has been asking me to walk home with her after church for a very long time. We usually drive. We always drive. Besides that, I haven't been able to walk with Chloe because of ward counsel after regular worship meetings. Sunday was a "5th Sunday" (no ward counsel) and a beautiful sunny day: finally Chloe got the walk she's been waiting for.
/

As we started walking, Chloe told me she felt like she was Anne (of Green Gables) and I was Diana walking home together. Then she decided the friendship thing was too much of a stretch and maybe she was Diana and I was Mrs. Barry.
/

Mrs. Barry who wore comfortable flats to church to manage the 1K walk home afterwards.
/

Personally, I coudl have gone for more hand-holding, but I only got Chloe's hand on one street crossing.

It didn't take long before Chloe got hot. It was 33C (91F) and her hair was sticking to her neck. She started walking from shady patch to shady patch cast by the baby trees that line the street home.

/
Then her feet started to hurt; Sunday shoes don't make great walking shoes. I didn't carry Chloe for long, though. The body heat was too much for me.
/
Close to home there is a little rotunda with stone benches and Chloe hid in the small patch of shade that the brick pillar offered to have a rest.
/
We both gnawed at my candy bracelet (now hers), decided we wouldn't try this again, and then finished our walk home.

so fun, I have ventured walks like this (my own stupidity though) with my 2 young boys 1 and 3 years old, and spent many blocks carrying one, and trying to push the other in the stroller.

What fun photos of your walk. So nice to live that close to the church (I know 1 km wouldn't sound close to some people!). The kids love walking home from church when we visit grandparents in UT--what a nice (but warm) sunny Sunday outing.

We're too far away from the church now to walk (over four miles), but the five years we lived one block away from the church made from some happy, and totally incident free, walks home from church with my little ones. I'm glad you and Chloe got to do it, in spite of the SUN. You're both too cute.

I love how happy she looks in the first picture and then the progression of being tired and hot. So cute!

This is a cute take on this SPT. You were nice to go along with Chloe's idea. We live around the corner from the church but we NEVER walk there. It's way too hot and in the mornings we're in a hurry.

I believe it's much, much too hot to walk here. What a great SPT photo shoot. I love that she felt like Anne of Green Gables.

Didn't you have a walk with Carmen last fall that ended up being more than your daughter bargined for too? How funny.

Chloe's blue dress is so adorable.

Those are the sweetest pictures! Your little girl is darling. The weather sounds awesome, but that's just because I have been reading about 115 degree heat from everyone else in Arizona!

These pictures are just beautiful...though I have to disagree with your idea of "hot." Sounds downright "balmy." My favorite picture was the one with you holding Chloe...oh, yum.

Evie has that same dress, and its my favorite of all times! So classic and lovely! That color looks great on all kids, and Chloe is no exception! We are close enough to walk to church for the first time of my life and I love being able to. (Our 6 months of winter hindered this until just very recently) we are taking full advantage!
